The Black Caps have bounced back from their drubbing at the hands of India in the T20s, to take a two-nil lead in the three-match one day series.
In the second one dayer on Saturday night a depleted New Zealand side posted 273 for eight and bowled out India for 251.
Debutant Kyle Jamieson, who made 25 not out in an unbroken 76 run ninth wicket stand with Ross Taylor, and also took two wickets was player of the match.
