Whakaari/White Island: Expert on toxic gas hydrogen sulphide

A specialist in military medicine with expertise in toxic substances says the eruption at Whakaari/White Island would have released the toxic gas hydrogen sulphide, which causes breathing difficulties.

Thirty people remain in hospital, many with inhalation burns.
