Cyber Monday struck by new tax laws on online purchases

It's Cyber Monday today but yesterday new tax laws came into force meaning overseas goods purchased online are now subject to GST.

It applies to products that cost less than $1000.

It's a move designed to make it easier for New Zealand companies to compete with massive corporations like Amazon - who up until Sunday didn't have to pay the tax.
