New Labour Party president Claire Szabo outlines goals for role

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 2 December 2019

The new president of the Labour party, Claire Szabo, says her job is to get the party geared up for the 2020 general election.

She will be making sure all recommendations from the reviews into sexual assault allegations are considered and implemented properly.

The 41-year-old, who heads Habitat for Humanity, beat Labour's Maori senior vice-president, Tane Phillips, and the West Coast-Tasman electorate committee's nominee, Lorna Crane for the job.

Ms Szabo replaces Nigel Haworth, who quit in September.
