RMA changes to protect significant natural areas - Minister

From Morning Report, 8:55 am on 26 November 2019

Councils will have to work more closely with tangata whenua, landowners and communities to protect native plants and animals on private and public land under a new government proposal.

The proposal makes changes to the Resource Management Act and means every council would have to have a strategy to identify and protect indigenous biodiversity.

It's the the third attempt in 20 years to set such rules.

Minister of Conservation, Eugenie Sage, speaks to Susie Ferguson.
