Elderly walkers defiant in face of serial attacker

From Morning Report, 8:26 am on 26 November 2019

An Auckland group of older walkers say they will not be put off by a vicious serial attacker who has been targeting women exercising in the East Coast Bays area.

Police have increased patrols after determining that four assaults are likely to be linked.

In the attacks, a man has grabbed women from behind and pushed them to the ground - knocking them senseless and causing serious injuries, including a broken collar bone, broken nose, dislocated shoulder and concussion.

Pam Mattson, who is 80, and co-ordinates the East Coast Bays Walkers, is in Browns Bay on Tuesday morning, about to set off with her group for one of their regular walks.

She speaks to Corin Dann.
