A private Waikato school is figuring out how to treat students who have become addicted to nicotine through vaping.

St Peter's Cambridge believes about 800 of its students have vaped or been exposed to vaping.

The school reckons one in 10 of those who vape is addicted to nicotine.

St Peter's director of wellbeing Micheal Brown told RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen vaping is one of the biggest issues the school is facing.
