NZ First didn't play a role in tightening visas - Jacinda Ardern

The Prime Minister has stepped in to resolve the Indian partnership visa row.

There's been a backlash in the Indian community after officials changed tack and made it harder to bring new husbands and wives into the country.

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters claimed credit for the clamp down but Jacinda Ardern is denying NZ First played any role in tightening the rules.

She told political reporter Jo Moir immigration officials had acted off their own bat, and she wants the tougher stance to go.
