The little known history of the abductions of Tokelauans and their sale into slavery in the world's last slave market in Peru is the subject of a new art installation that was launched this week in Porirua.
In the late 1800's, Tokelau's population plummeted to 85 people, because of slavery.
The work, Cry of the Stolen People, will tell that story at the 2020 Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture in Hawai'i.
