Former prisoner says state care caused life of crime

From Morning Report, 6:38 am on 30 October 2019

One of New Zealand's longest-serving prisoners, Arthur Taylor, told the Royal Commission into abuse in care, that the time he spent at the Epuni Boys' Home is responsible for his life of crime.

Arthur Taylor first appeared in court in 1972 on a forgery charge and has accumulated more than 150 convictions since.

He told the inquiry the staff at the home were violent and abused their power over the children.
