Owha the leopard seal has been injured, with vets suspecting she has been shot in the face.
Owha was found with a bleeding puncture above her nostril on Friday and is being closely monitored in Auckland's Westhaven marina.
Dr Krista Hupman is a NIWA marine biologist and says while it's too soon to predict her long term prospects, Owha seems to be coping.
