Auckland's mayor felt despondent watching fire take hold

From Morning Report, 6:12 am on 24 October 2019

Auckland's mayor Phil Goff says although the fire's still burning and the priority is dampening down hotspots... the focus will soon turn to figuring out how badly the building, and its fixtures and fittings, have been damaged. He says he's felt a sense of despondency watching the fire take hold. Mr Goff told First Up while this is a set back for the project, but it won't hold the city back. He says the central Auckland Council building was likely to remain shut again today, until air filters had been cleaned of soot.
