Change in visa policy tramples Indian marriage culture

Members of the Indian community are furious at a change in government policy they say tramples over Indian marriage culture. New Zealand Indians who go to India to marry in an arranged marriage are no longer able to bring their new spouse here under a partnership visa, unless they can show they've been living together for at least a year. The president of the Auckland Indian Association, Narendra Bhana, says that's not how Indian marriages work. The national manager for visa services at Immigration New Zealand is Peter Elms.
