Surge in success for the young in local body elections

The results of the country's local body elections have seen a surge in younger people winning seats. Five mayors under 40 have been elected, and now a quarter of mayors are women, up from 19 per cent. We speak to Lower Hutt mayor Campbell Barry, the country's youngest mayor at 28; Aaron Hawkins, 35, who's Dunedin's first Green mayor; and new Opotiki mayor Lyn Riesterer, who is from the East Coast which saw an upswing in female mayors.
