Voter turnout up 2 percent on 2016 - preliminary count

An academic is arguing apathy is not to blame for low voter turnout in the local body elections - instead it's politicians who are failing to engage the public. The overall turnout for the local body elections is sitting at just over 44 percent, according to Local Government New Zealand, a 2 percent increase on 2016. Gyles speaks to Dr Andew Cardow, a senior lecturer at Massey University's School of Management.
