Replacement hospital block a decade away, says MidCentral DHB

From Morning Report, 8:47 am on 10 October 2019

Eighty senior doctors in Palmerston North have written to their DHB to complain of the inadequate state of the hospital and the harm it is causing patients. They're calling it a crisis, pointing to a sub-standard intensive care unit, an overwhelmed emergency department and and too few operating theatres to meet the needs of the region's patients. The doctors say they have lost faith in the DHB and its chief executive to fix the issues. The chief executive of MidCentral DHB, Kathryn Cook told Gyles Beckford that a replacement hospital block is at least a decade away.
