Austrian Countess fined over NZ land purchase

An Austrian Countess who breached New Zealand's overseas investment rules when she bought Hadleigh Station in Wairarapa has been fined just a fraction of the purchase price and been allowed to keep the property. The Overseas Investment Office also found the New Zealand businessman who set up the land deal for the countess committed a breach of its rules but said it had no power to take action against him.
