NZ First refers data leak to police and Privacy Commissioner
New Zealand First has referred a massive leak of members' personal details to the police and the Privacy Commissioner. Yesterday a database from 2016 including the names, occupation, phone numbers and addresses of members and people affiliated with the party was sent to news media and opposition MPs. Party leader Winston Peters wasn't willing to be interviewed but in a statement he says the leaking of the information was a "deliberate and malicious misappropriation of data by a disgruntled souce". It's the latest sign of tensions within the party a week out from its annual party conference.
