Cancer patient advocates hope funding decision just the start

Cancer patient advocates are hoping Pharmac's decision to pay for two new drugs for breast cancer and lung cancer signals more funding to come. From December, the government's drug-buying agency will fund Kadcyla for some breast cancer patients, and Alectinib - known comercially as Alecensa - for lung cancer. Susie speaks to Dr Libby Burgess, chair of the Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition, and Philip Hope, chief executive of Lung Foundation New Zealand about what the new drugs will mean for patients.
