University promises investigation of care

From Morning Report, 7:36 am on 27 September 2019

The University of Canterbury's Vice Chancellor is promising the care provided to students living at the Sonoda village accomodation in Christchurch will be fully investigated. It comes after a student was found dead in his room at the village, reportedly up to eight weeks after he died. Caroline Moratti is a journalist for student magazine Critic, and wrote an article about overworked and underpaid Residents' Assistants who say student halls are filled with stress, anxiety and mental health problems. She speaks to Corin Dann about the lack of support for students in halls.
