Taranaki dog owners begin to to protect booming whio population

About 15 backcountry dogs took part in the first ever whio aversion training in Taranaki at the weekend. "Functionally" extinct in Egmont National Park 20 years ago -- the population of the native blue duck has grown to about 200 on Mt Taranaki and they are beginning to take up residence outside the park, exposing them to new risks such as canines. Our Taranaki Whanganui reporter Robin Martin went along to a training session.
