Locals left in dark over Ohakea air base contamination

People living near the Ohakea air base in Manawatu are seeking reassurances about their safety after an investigation into contamination at the base. A Defence Force inquiry has found a plume of toxic contaminants caused by firefighting foam used at the base will continue to spread in the water table for up to 125 years. Locals who now rely on bottled water have waited more than a year for a start on a piped water scheme, and there is still no start date. Susie speaks to Ian McKelvie, the MP for Rangiteki, who lives near the air base.
