Work visa overhaul fails to address exploitation says expert

The Government's being told its overhaul of work visas fails to tackle the one thing that would stop migrant workers being treated like modern day slaves. Yesterday it announced a new employer-led work visa that it says will deal with shortages, reduce exploitation and improve conditions for New Zealand workers. Under the new system, six visa categories will be replaced by one temporary work visa. Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway says the new visa will give employers more certainty and foreign workers more assurances about their conditions.
