Young offenders offered new hope by farm experience

From Morning Report, 8:38 am on 17 September 2019

A group of three young offenders at Te Maioha o Parekarangi - an Oranga Tamariki Youth Justice Residence in Rotorua - are learning how to become dairy farmers. As part of the course, run on a neighbouring farm, the boys are learning how to mend fences, ride motorcycles, calve and milk cows. They not only get NCEA credits, they realise their futures can be on a positive path. RNZ's Youth Affairs Reporter Katie Doyle took a trip to the farm and filed this report.
