The Government is being accused of cowardice for refugee policy

The Government has been accused of cowardice, for its lack of action on changing its policy for African and Middle Eastern refugees. A parliamentary select committee has been considering a petition demanding the scrapping of the policy, which stops refugees from those areas resettling in New Zealand unless they already have family living here. Migrant and refugee rights campaigner Gayaal Iddamalgoda told our deputy political editor Craig McCulloch it's an embarrassment for the Government.
