Day 3 of wiki o te reo Maori

From Morning Report, 8:56 am on 11 September 2019

Waiho! Leave that Tukua! Let go Kao - no Kaua - don't Homai - give (towards the speaker) "homai ki ahau" ki ahau meaning to me - so give it to me Hoatu - to give to someone else (use haere mai, haere atu example) "Hoatu ki a Papa" - give to dad Haere mai ki te kai…. No prizes as to guessing what this is… I have vivid memories of mum calling this out and no matter where you were we always managed to hear it Rawe! Awesome! Ataahua - beautiful "ataahua to pikitia!" - your picture is beautiful Ko koe taku kuru pounamu You are my most precious thing… this is the taonga of all taonga.
