Economist and housing specialist Shamubeel Eaqub says Kiwibuild is a distraction and was never going to solve the problems that caused a housing crisis.
Today the Housing Minister Megan Woods will announce the government's Kiwibuild reset, but Mr Eaqub suspects it will be incremental and modest.
He told RNZ political reporter Jo Moir last night Kiwibuild was launched on a false premise.
