Sports gets a shake-up to draw more young players

While the Silver Ferns and Black Caps are being feted for their recent world cup efforts, the falling numbers of young people playing sport is prompting a shake up in approach by leading New Zealand sports like rugby, cricket, football and hockey. Sport New Zealand is spearheading a programme to bring fun and development back into sport, and to combat the negative experiences it says too many young people are having which are driving them away. Sports New Zealand chief executive Peter Miskimmin spoke to sports editor Stephen Hewson about the changes needed to get kids back to the sports field.
