Measles outbreak: Vaccines offered in malls, schools, churches

From Morning Report, 8:15 am on 29 August 2019

Extra nurse vaccinators in malls, schools and churches are being deployed across Auckland as the measles outbreak continues to spread.

There have been 849 cases across the country and South Auckland - where hundreds of South Auckland school kids and staff are being kept home today - is the worst affected area.

The situation is so bad, residents in Bay of Plenty are being warned to get vaccinated before travelling to Auckland, due to the low immunisation rates in the area.

Otara-Papatoetoe local board chair Efeso Collins spoke to Susie Ferguson about what is happening.
