MPs pay should be linked to average person’s salary - Seymour

From Morning Report, 6:42 am on 28 August 2019

The government is scrapping the formula used to calculate the pay for MPs each year.

In 2015, in response to public concern about big pay increases awarded by the Remuneration Authority, the government made the authority use a formula based on public sector wage movements.

Workplace Relations Minister Iain Lees-Galloway says this has been a failure, and the government is restoring the Remuneration Authority's independence.

ACT party leader David Seymour spoke to Susie Ferguson about the changes.
