Concerns over unfair queue jumping amid long waits for visas

From Morning Report, 6:46 am on 23 August 2019

Immigration New Zealand faces questions over whether it is allowing unfair queue jumping amid long waits for visas. It says applications for residence have grown by 59 per cent so far this year compared with the same seven months last year, and some applications need to be prioritised. Its assistant general manager, Peter Elms, says the department staffs itself according to the number of residence visas the Government wants, but denies it is on a go-slow to meet lower immigration targets.
