Govt plan a 'critical step' towards ending homelessness

Groups working with the homeless are describing the government's new plan to tackle the problem as a critical step towards ultimately ending homelessness.

The government is spending $54 million to help people with complex challenges like mental health, addiction and family violence stay in their rentals.

The main focus is to hire intensive case managers who will make sure people at risk of becoming homeless get access to the best services. Political reporter Charlie Dreaver has more.
