Police open to using facial recognition from CCTV network

Police won't rule out using facial recognition from an expanded network of CCTV cameras in Auckland.

Auckland Transport and Council are looking at adding thousands of CCTV cameras across the city. Police say they're open to using new technologies in the future balanced against relevant legislation.

Auckland Transport does not appear to have been aware of the police's interest.
