From Morning Report, 6:42 am on 14 August 2019

Riot police have clashed with protestors at Hong Kong's airport overnight. This follows Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam saying the on-going protests were pushing the territory down what she described as a "path of no return".

Thousands of passengers remain stranded at Hong Kong airport, with all flights cancelled in and out of the region, following another massive pro-democracy protest.

RNZ correspondent Patrick Fok has been covering the protests, he told producer Siobhan Wilson no one was expecting the police to storm the airport.
