Volunteers helped remove more than 13,000 bags of rubbish from Fox River that had spewed from a disused landfill in flooding in March.
The volunteers finished up this weekend, and the Defence Force and DoC will continue the clean-up. But Forest and Bird says communities can't rely on volunteers dropping everything to help in future.
