Milford Sound quake: a 'good bump'

People on social media are describing last night's earthquake near Milford Sound as a "good bump", and the biggest some have felt in a while.

Nearly 7000 people reported feeling the quake to the GeoNet website. It was initially recorded as a magnitude 6.3 with a depth of 5 kilometres, but has been revised down to 5.5 with a depth of 12 kilometres.

There have been 28 aftershocks the strongest being 3.8.

Rosanne Haggman was working at Morrison's Irish Pub in Queenstown when the quake struck. She spoke with our reporter Matthew Thuenissen late last night.
