Ihumātao: Donations flood in to support occupiers

From Morning Report, 7:55 am on 12 August 2019

In the face of ongoing controversy, occupiers at Ihumātao are holding strong.

National Party leader Simon Bridges said yesterday that the Prime Minister should take a tougher stand and tell protesters to go home. But Ms Ardern has always said she supports Māori finding their own solution to the dispute.

Meanwhile, those on the front line at the site are persevering through rain and wind, supported by the generosity of those who can't be there.

As the protest nears the end of its third week, reporter Jordan Bond went to the disputed site to see how people are getting on.
