Hours after the El Paso gunman killed 20 people at a mall in Southern Texas another man shot at people outside a bar in Dayton, Ohio killing nine and wounding dozens more.
The shooter was killed at the scene and police have confirmed that his sister was among the victims.
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley praised the quick actions of police and first responders.
The shooter has been named as 24-year-old Connor Betts.
