A former cancer patient is welcoming the news that over the next three years the government will be bringing radiation treatment to Hawke's Bay, Taranaki and Northland.
Teacher and mother of two, Julie Salisbury was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2017.
Living just outside of New Plymouth meant she had to take unpaid leave, and travel four hours to Palmerston North for her radiation therapy.
Ms Salisbury spoke to RNZ political reporter Yvette McCullough about the challenges she faced having her treatment away from home.
