From Morning Report, 7:32 am on 29 July 2019

New Zealand's greatest equestrian Sir Mark Todd has announced his retirement.

Todd, 63, won two individual gold medals from the Olympic Games, four Badminton titles, five Burghley crowns and two World Championship team titles.

He retired after the Sydney Olympics in 2000 but returned to competition in 2008.

Todd, who was named Rider of the 20th Century, told RNZ's Barry Guy that he's been thinking about retirement for a while and as he's been getting back into race horse training, he felt the time to make the change was now.
