Human Rights Commission urges more Muslim inclusion in inquiry

From Morning Report, 7:27 am on 29 July 2019

The Chief Human Rights Commissioner is urging the Royal Commission into the Christchurch mosque attacks to boost its efforts to include the Muslim community in its work.

Paul Hunt is also encouraging the inquiry to reconsider the scope of extensive suppression orders blanketing the investigation that were put in place last week.

The top-level inquiry, headed by Justice Sir William Young and former diplomat Jacqui Caine, is investigating the accused gunman and his activities before March 15.

It will also examine the role of the security agencies.

RNZ reporter Katie Scotcher has been speaking to the Human Rights Commission.

She joins Gyles Beckford with the details.
