Federated Farmers says a campaign being launched this morning to highlight animal welfare and environmental problems caused by winter grazing is another attack on the industry.
With winter grazing, also known as winter cropping, dairy and beef cattle are strip fed on a paddock of crops and once it's eaten down the animals are often left standing wet and cold in mud.
The President of Federated Farmers, Katie Milne told Andrew McRae farmers are aware it's not a good look for the industry and work is under way to encourage best-practice and to develop alternatives.
