What does Boris Johnson leadership mean for NZ?

From Morning Report, 8:20 am on 24 July 2019

Former UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson will be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Two years ago Boris Johnson was in New Zealand and he spoke to Morning Report about post Brexit relations with the UK.

Mr Johnson was voted in by Conservative Party members who make up just just two percent of the British electorate. The Conservative party is currently polling 23 percent.

The leader of the Opposition Jeremy Corbyn says he will register a vote of no confidence.

And reports from Britain suggest Boris Johnson is already offside with one major section of the community - fans of the quiz show The Chase.

An hour before it was due to go to air it was cancelled by ITV and replaced with a celebrity show featuring Mr Johnson's father Stanley.
