Truck-load of plastic dumped in ocean every 38 seconds - study

From Morning Report, 7:54 am on 23 July 2019

New research has found the equivalent of a truck-load of plastic has been dumped into the ocean every 38 seconds for the last 10 years.

The Royal Society Te Aparangi says plastics have taken less than 100 years to become central to almost every aspect of modern life, and the amount we use each year is still growing rapidly.

Sally Gaw is a co-author of the research and is an associate professor at the University of Canterbury. She talks to Corin Dann.
