More soldiers sent to Fox River clean-up

From Morning Report, 7:38 am on 23 July 2019

Today is one of the biggest days yet for the Westland cleanup job dubbed Operation Fox.

Garbage is still scattered across more than 2000 hectares of riverbed and coastline four months after rain washed out a disused landfill near Fox Glacier in March.

The largest contingent yet of people from the Defence Force personnel are going on rubbish duty on Tuesday.

RNZ reporter Katie Todd is in Fox Glacier and filed this report.
