Log price collapse may impact jobs in NZ

From Morning Report, 7:21 am on 9 July 2019

The Forestry Industry Contractors Association says a sudden collapse in the price of logs sent to China is putting jobs at risk.

A backlog of imports into China, a downturn in demand, and nervousness over its trade war with the United States has seen prices hit their lowest point in four years.

Corin Dann speaks to the chief executive of the Forestry Industry Contractors Association, Prue Younger.

She says the drop in prices has caught small operators in particular.
