The government is boosting the amount paid to people who look after disabled adult children, and also widening the scope of the scheme.
Funded Family Care payments will be extended to anyone looking after a disabled child of any age, and also to people caring for a disabled spouse.
Payments will be increased from the minimum wage to between $20-25 an hour.
The government is also considering changing the requirement that the disabled person be classified as the carer's employer.
