Four time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy says the government needs to focus on driver training in its new road safety strategy.
The Ministry of Transport is proposing following Sweden's Vision Zero approach to road safety, which accepts that crashes happen and seeks to limit the damage.
Mr Murphy says that is a bad message to be sending, and told Ben Strang that road safety starts with the people behind the wheel.
