Manning responds to Stephenson's 'Hit & Run' retraction

From Morning Report, 8:13 am on 20 June 2019

One of the authors of Hit & Run, the book that criticised an NZSAS raid in Afghanistan, has retracted one of the key claims.

Jon Stephenson says he now believes armed insurgents were in a village attacked by the elite New Zealand soldiers in 2010.

He told Morning Report he's made his interviews with the insurgents available to the inquiry.

Deborah Manning - a lawyer who's representing the families of those who were killed in Operation Burnham - tells us the first she heard of the retraction was in the media on Thursday morning.
