Family Court review finds 2014 reforms failed

From Morning Report, 7:39 am on 17 June 2019

A review of the family court has found the radical reforms of 2014 have delivered few of the promised benefits for parents and children.

It cites one case where a custody dispute over a ten-month-old baby wasn't resolved until the girl was nearly five - a delay described as typical.

The review has also found the system is not fit for purpose and is recommending 70 changes which could cost up to $60 million a year.
